John Richard Rooney (born December 17, 1990) is an English football manager and former professional midfielder, best known for his versatile career in both British and American football, and for his current role as head coach of Macclesfield FC. EARLY LIFE AND CAREER BEGINNINGS

Rooney started his footballing journey at Everton’s Youth Academy at the age of just six but was released after a few years. He found his footing at Macclesfield Town, where he signed a professional contract and made his senior debut in March 2008. Displaying promise as an attacking midfielder, Rooney scored his first professional goal in March 2009 in a match against Dagenham & Redbridge. In 2011, Rooney’s career took an international turn when he was drafted by New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer’s Supplemental Draft.
